Jagodna is the highest peak in the Bystrzyca Mountains, which attracts many tourists and nature lovers every year. Below you will find practical information about trails and attractions, as well as other valuable tips for organizing a trip to this place. Jagodna — observation tower, peak, shelter, parking lot. Here's everything you need to know.

Blueberry — peak and its characteristics

Located in the Bystrzyckie Mountains, Jagodna reaches 977 meters above sea level. Despite its afforestation in the upper parts, it offers some of the most beautiful views in the entire Central Sudetenland region. The observation tower on Jagodna, located at the very top, allows you to climb above the canopy of trees and gain an excellent perspective, for example to the Orlickie Mountains or the Śnieżnik Massif.

Geologically, Jagodna is built mainly of granitogneisses, which are part of the metamorphic of the Bystrzyckie and Orlické Mountains, which testifies to its long and turbulent geological history. These rocky substrates contribute to the distinctive landscape and are a testament to the processes that have shaped the area of the Sudetenland throughout the epochs.

Biologically, the berry is covered with a lower regline spruce forest with an admixture of beech and birch, which adds charm especially in autumn, when beech leaves turn golden and red in color. These forests, by contrast, are home to a variety of species of fauna and flora, creating habitat for many species of animals.

Getting to Jagodna and parking. Shelter

A convenient starting point on the Jagoda is the Spalona Pass, located about 9 km from Bystrzyca Kłodzka. On the section connecting the town with the pass, you need to be prepared for a lot of streamers and large climbs, because the height difference is as much as 420 m. It is also worth remembering that the exact location of the Burnt Pass is not a place where you should leave your car and go to Jagodna from there. The parking lot is located about 700 higher, at the Jagodna shelter, which in itself is a very interesting attraction. Built in 1895, the building impresses with its architecture and cozy interior. But in fact, it is mainly for another reason that tourists visit Jagodna and the shelter that is located next to it. It is, of course, about tasty cuisine. Berry racuches or pyras with a button are worth the sin here.

How to get on Jagodna?

As already said, the ascent to Jagodna begins at the Burnt Pass, and from there it is necessary to choose a blue trail. This route leads through the picturesque landscapes of the Bystrzyckie Mountains and is well marked, which facilitates orientation in the terrain. The blue trail is considered relatively gentle and suitable for people of various levels of physical condition, including families with children. Moreover, it has a gravel surface, so you can easily go on it with a stroller. How much is going on Jagodna? It takes about 90 minutes to enter, and the return is only an hour. At the top, however, it is worth taking a break, as there is an observation tower on it. The berry itself is quite wooded, so the best views can be seen only after climbing this structure.

Tower on Jagodna

The tower on Jagodna is one of the main attractions of this place. The current structure, rebuilt and reopened in 2020, is 23 meters high. From the observation deck, located at an altitude of 19 meters, you can enjoy the picturesque views that Jagodna offers. The tower in good weather allows you to see, among others, the Orlické Mountains adjacent to the Bystrzyca Mountains or the Śnieżnik Massif. It is an ideal place for photographers and everyone who wants to stay for a moment and enjoy the beauty of nature.
